The Institute is unique in that it relies in its research not only on its own professionals, but also on the knowledge and experience of a number of world-famous experts in corporate law and corporate governance serving on its Blue Ribbon Panel.
Formed in 2000, the latter is a strategic cross-section of industry experts representing various interests in the market. They include such eminent authorities on corporate governance as Professor Florencio Lopez-de-Silanes of Harvard University, Russian Presidential Adviser Andrei Illarionov, Bruce W. Bean, a Clifford Chance partner and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, and former Russian Vice Premier and Finance Minister Boris Fedorov, a leading Russian economist and politician.
The Blue Ribbon Panel’s role is to approve standards and methods for the Institute’s work and projects, and oversee its research efforts. It has put its seal of approval on the ingenious methodology developed by the think-tank for evaluating Russian companies for the quality of their corporate governance, which underlies the Institute’s regularly updated CORE rating list of the biggest names in Russian business.
